Life of Pi can be looked at in many different ways. To me, Richard Parker represents Pi’s fear and his wild side. Each story is similar, but i believe the human story. Pi tells himself that it was actually animals because he doesn't want to remember the actual event. It was too painful and depressing. The orangutan was his mother, the wolf was the chef, and the zebra was the Chinese worker. This is the debatable part. Who is Richard Parker? Richard Parker is Pi’s vicious and inhumane side. He made up Richard Parker to forget about the terrible things he did, like eat human. When Pi is talking to the investigators, he says “Don't worry, you wont. He’s somewhere you’ll never find him.” Pg.317. He is talking about Richard Parker. When Pi reached land he wanted to come up with anything to forget the past. Richard Parker ran away from his life forever, which means that his savageness left him. Richard Parker was fake, and that's why they would never find him. That's why Richard Parker never looked back when he ran away. He was civilized now, and a new man that had to completely start life over.
